Armour-plated, bomb-proof car for Pippa
June 27th, 2011
Pippa Middleton’s parents are set to give her an armour-plated, bomb-proof car, for fears her sudden surge in popularity will make her a prime target for obsessed fans or terrorists. Michael and Carole Middleton are planning to spend nearly $150,000 on a bullet-proof Audi or BMW for their 27-year-old daughter, according to The Sun.
Pippa is not guarded by the royal protection police service that protects her sister Kate Middleton, the new Duchess of Cambridge, but has become one of the most talked about women in the world since appearing as chief bridesmaid at the royal wedding in April. Prince William’s bodyguards reportedly advised Pippa’s millionaire parents, who run a successful party supplies business, to boost their daughter’s security in a bid to protect her from any harm that may accompany her newfound fame. It is believed Pippa already carries a panic button that is linked to the police.
Likely Pippa will get the Audi. In the image above you see the Audi which is the VR 7 ballistic protection standard. Built in a heavily guarded section of a secure workshop (no cell phones allowed) the A8 L Security is an armor-plated luxury sedan that can withstand rifle bullets as well as small explosive such as hand grenades and anti-tank mines. The weight of the armour plating is considerable, hence under the bonnet you’ll find a 6.3-liter W12 engine which produces 500 horsepower and can propel the heavy four-door from 0-60mph in roughly seven seconds. The previous generation A8 L Security of 2007 cost $685,000.
